What did you do this past week?

I am getting used to the online learning format. It’s good that I don’t have to rush from one class to another like before. This past week I was primarily doing homework, reviewing class materials, and cleaning my room (as workout). Our group completed Phase II of the project Tuesday night. It took us some time to successfully deploy the webpages. I also had a zoom meeting with my advisor on Friday, and that went well!

What’s in your way?

Since I am living alone right now on West Campus, distraction is minimal. This has allowed me to focus better when working. However, I definitely have to get up earlier and cook better things for myself. My mom actually called me and forced me to cook some real food while she was watching on the other end.

What will you do next week?

I will study for an exam for my other class. (: Actually, I am studying for it right now and I am typing this article to take a break from that. :) I will be more proactive towards all the group projects I am having right now and do a lot of zoom calls and online communications. Our team needs to figure out where to get more data. I will stay active on this.

What was your experience of Test #1b?

I believe Test #1b thoroughly assessed how well I have absorbed the Python details taught in class. The Hackerrank format is a good way to practice how to think fast and think accurately. I definitely have to practice more on this. One of my teammates had some trouble accessing the test, but luckily the problem was solved when he restarted the browser. I also want to say thank you to my teammates. I couldn’t get to the correct approaches to the problems fast enough, and my teammates helped me a lot on that.

What made you happy this week?

I moved the Spectrum modem into my own room to gain a better internet connection, but the coax outlet in my room doesn’t work (Spectrum guy in the phone call — “we can send someone to help you activate it, you just need to pay”, but I didn’t think it’s a good idea), so I moved it back to the living room. Then, Windows 10 reported a network error that I don’t want to spend extra time to fix. Considering this, and all the system crashes before this, I uninstalled Windows 10 and fully switched to Ubuntu 18.04.4 LTS minimal. Time for a fresh start!

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

Just stay calm and stay productive!
