I grew up in Shanghai, China. It’s a busy city. I went to a prominent high school in the district of Pudong New Area. My favorite extracurriculars are karaoke, cycling, and table tennis. I love riding my bike to see the sea, though it often takes an entire day to ride to the seaside and get back home.

Why UT? Why CS?

I figured I’d like some changes in 2015. So I went to Hong Kong to take the SAT and applied. Austin is a flourishing city, and CS is a practical major. So I chose UT and transferred into CS during my second year here.

Why this class? Your expectations of this class? How much Javascript/Python/Web programming do you already know?

I’ve heard good things about this class and it’s good to get a Writing Flag completed. I hope this class would help me learn good SWE practices and give me more confidence in web development in general. I have little experience in web development right now. I have worked in Python, HTML/CSS before, but my knowledge is fairly limited.

How did you like the first couple of lectures? How did you feel about the cold calling?

I like the first couple of lectures. They inspired me to think and learn. The cold calling is good. It keeps me focused.

What made you happy this week? What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

I started a modest, more balanced lifestyle this semester and I am very happy with that. Pick-of-the-week: “Coronavirus” has taken over Chinese social media; lunar new year celebration.
